Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

FileFormatFixer (the Service) is a web utility that resizes, compresses, and cleans photos and PDFs so they meet the technical requirements of upload portals. This policy explains what information the Service handles and why. Questions can be sent to support@fileformatfixer.com.

2. How your files are handled

• PDFs are processed entirely in your browser. They are never sent to our servers.
• Photos are processed in your browser. Only if your browser cannot process a photo (for example, it cannot decode or encode the image) is that photo sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server, processed in memory, and returned to you right away.
• Files are not written to a database and are not kept in permanent storage. We do not look at, copy, or analyze the content of your files.
• As a hard upper limit, any temporary copy of a file that our systems hold, whether in memory or in ephemeral storage, is automatically deleted within 1 hour.
• Files larger than 20 MB are not processed, because browser memory limits prevent it.

Photos can contain hidden data such as location and camera details. The photo tools remove this data from the file they produce, and the PDF tools remove document metadata such as author and producer.

3. Information we collect

• Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, the tool you used, and the email address you gave at checkout. Checkout also carries a tool identifier and a random temporary identifier that contains no file content and no personal information.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider (Netlify) and our servers may log your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, and timestamps. We use this for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
• Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you.

We do not require an account. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout pages under its own policies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy first.

4. How we use information

• To provide the Service and process payments and refunds.
• To keep the Service secure and to detect fraud and abuse.
• To answer support requests.
• To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, such as Stripe for payments and Netlify for hosting, and only as needed for them to do so. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the Service.

6. Retention

Files are handled as described in section 2. We keep payment and transaction records, and support messages, only as long as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal and tax obligations.

7. Security

Data sent to our servers travels over HTTPS. Processing in your browser means most files never leave your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@fileformatfixer.com. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a material change, we will post it here before it takes effect.
